Is loading first class passengers first a good idea anymore?

So having some time to think about the thought process behind why certain passengers get loaded first on airplanes, it made me wonder if this is an archaic philosophy that doesn't have much merit based on current plane designs.  I have been on planes that had multiple doors for passengers to load, or planes that had a door between first class and coach, at least I believe that's how it was designed.  These cases would make sense why loading someone who paid significantly more or who flies often enough to be upgraded would appreciate getting settled in their seat and being served champagne or orange juice.

Now, most planes have one door that is between the cockpit entrance and first class, so coach passengers must walk through first class, preventing flight attendants from serving anything to first class during boarding.  The first class passengers are always either on their phone now or reading a magazine/newspaper, which is basically what they were doing at the gate prior to boarding.  To me, it would make more sense to load the back of the plane first, preferably window seats, then middle seats, then aisle seats followed by first class.  Besides, flying first class entitles you to the flight lounges which honestly is almost always better than sitting on the plane or at the gate, so this would give them more time to relax and enjoy these before boarding.  If someone can explain some rationale for still following this process or how they appreciate it I'd love to hear it.

What is the deal with your blog name?

First of all, welcome to my new blog.  I intend on capturing things that bother me, interest me, or otherwise may be interesting to put out there without any specific purpose.

The name of this blog is my Consciousness Watering Hole.  Because it will be fed by my stream of consciousness, it seemed appropriate, although somewhat pretentious or maybe even corny as well.  Hopefully you will bear with me in my postings and please post your comments.

See you in my next post!
